The Courtyard

The Courtyard Montessori Preschool was the first Montessori preschool established in Christchurch. It opened in 1980 at The Old Teachers College site with Binda Goldsbrough as its Principal.

In 1990 The Courtyard moved to its current premises at Somerfield Street where the charming character home was renovated into a preschool.

The Courtyard has grown and now has two classrooms. The main building accommodates our Office and Classroom 1. Classroom 2 is situated in a purpose built modern building within the same grounds. Both classrooms flow out onto a sunny garden, equipped with sandpit, climbing frames and sensorial garden.
