Our 40 year learning journey
The Courtyard Montessori Preschool originated in the old Teacher’s College site in Peterborough Street in 1980 before it quickly outgrew the premises and a new site was sought. The Courtyard Montessori Preschool that is situated at 99a Somerfield Street has been established since 1990. The preschool is situated on a beautiful established 1500 metre site on the southern side of Christchurch was set up by a group of parents and educationalists determined to bring the choice of Montessori education to Christchurch families. The homestead was refurbished inside to cater to the needs of a 3-6 year age group and a purpose built classroom was also built in order to accommodate the many families within central Christchurch seeking a Montessori education.
The preschool continues to thrive 40 years on.
