Our team is made up of highly qualified and experienced teachers, each with their own strengths and interests that are highlighted in everyday practice. The team are united in their passion for the Montessori Philosophy and providing a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment where children come to thrive.
Helen – Centre Manager
I would like to warmly welcome you to the Courtyard Montessori Preschool. This community captured my heart when I came here for a teaching placement in 2008. I joined the team shortly after and progressed through Montessori training, growing my skills and truly learning what it meant to be working in such a special place. I did travel for a bit, however I was drawn back to the Courtyard as there is something about the combination of the historic building, beautiful outdoor environment, passionate teachers, and authenticity of the Montessori culture, that makes you want to continue being part of the community.
I have recently moved into the Centre Manager position and I am now proud to be the kaitiakitanga (guardian) who ensures our community-based Montessori preschool is thriving for now and into the future. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your whānau and welcoming you into our community.

The Courtyard Society
The Courtyard Montessori Preschool is governed by an Executive Committee of a Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Treasurer and Centre Manager. Alongside this Committee are general members – often current and past parents – and together they form the Courtyard Society. This dedicated group is committed to maintaining the preschool as a valued community pillar, guided by the Montessori philosophy and with a strong community focus.
